Expressions of Support

Here you will find some expressions of support from individuals who have cheered me on throughout my journey of becoming an occupational therapist.

Saginaw Valley State University Fieldwork Coordinator and Simulation Lab Associate Kadie Schultz, MSOT, OTRL, CBIS

To Whom It May Concern,

Shannon Williams is most worthy of this reference because she demonstrated and upheld the highest level of scholarly and academic achievement during her time in the Saginaw Valley State University Master of Science in Occupational Therapy (MSOT) program.

I have known Shannon for well over 3 years in my role as a simulation lab associate in the Occupational Therapy Department at Saginaw Valley State University. Shannon is a 2023 graduate of our MSOT program, where she excelled and engaged in many extra activities outside of regular course-related requirements. Shannon consistently demonstrated exemplary performances in classroom activities/labs, simulations, and community engagement activities. Shannon always accomplished these tasks with great initiative and with a very positive attitude.

If her performance in the MSOT program is any indication of how she would perform while on your team, Shannon will be a very positive addition to your organization as an exceptional occupational therapist and valued team member.

If you have any questions or need additional information, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Sincerely,

Kadie Schultz, MSOT, OTRL, CBIS

Fieldwork Educator at Origami Rehabilitation Colette Brzezinski, MS, OTRL, CBIS

To Whom It May Concern:

I had the pleasure of working with Shannon Kellenberger as her Fieldwork Educator for her Level II Fieldwork placement at Origami Rehabilitation from May 2023-July 2023. During her time at Origami Rehabilitation, Shannon worked with adult clients with neurological diagnoses, including traumatic brain injury, cerebrovascular accident, spinal cord injury, and progressive neurological conditions. Shannon administered a variety of formal and standardized assessments including dynamometer, Manual Muscle Testing, Nine Hole Peg Test, pinch meter, Convergence Insufficiency Symptom Scale, QuickDASH, Developmental Test of Visual Perception, Patient Specific Functional Scale, Symbol Digit Modalities Test, SLUMS, Trail Making, and a vision screen. Following assessment administration, she demonstrated good ability to concisely document evaluation results and craft a client-centered, holistic treatment plan. Shannon is skilled at building rapport with clients and documenting outcomes to illustrate client progress.

During her time at Origami Rehabilitation, Shannon demonstrated excellent work ethic, responded well to constructive feedback, and forged strong working relationships among the interdisciplinary team. She completed additional projects beyond client care, including presenting to the Occupational Therapy department on clinician and caregiver burnout and developing a resource for Saginaw Valley State University for neurological vision diagnoses and treatment. Shannon is eager to build new skills and contribute her knowledge and strengths to a team. She would make an excellent addition to any therapy team.

If you have any questions or would like to speak further regarding Shannon’s qualifications, please feel free to contact me.

Sincerely,

Colette Brzezinski, MS, OTRL, CBIS

Fieldwork Educator at Henry Ford Jackson Hospital Krystin Haapala, OTRL

To Whom It May Concern,

My name is Krystin Haapala and I am an Occupational Therapist at Henry Ford Health System. I had the pleasure of having Shannon Kellenberger as my student. While she was with me, I always witnessed her going above and beyond. Shannon was eager to observe, learn, and get involved. I was able to see her put her learning from the classroom in to practice with each patient. I always appreciated her willingness to ask questions either of me to understand the diagnosis or disposition decisions as well as of the patients to more fully understand their prior level of function. Her inquisitiveness makes her a great asset as a therapist to ensure her patients are fully understood and cared for. Her dedication to not only her professional knowledge but her professional behavior make her a dependable candidate for any position. I would be honored to be her peer in practice.

Warmly,

Krystin Haapala, OTRL

Kappa Tau Epsilon Faculty Advisor Leah Smith

To Whom It May Concern,

My name is Leah Smith, and I am the Customer Service Coordinator for the Campus Financial Services Center at Saginaw Valley State University. In addition to this role, I am also the staff advisor for Kappa Tau Epsilon. I am writing to offer an expression of support for Shannon Kellenberger. I have had the opportunity to work closely with Shannon for the last year and a half and feel that I can speak directly to her personal and professional character.

As advisor, I worked closely with Shannon as a member of the executive for Kappa Tau Epsilon during the 2021-2022 and 2022-2023 academic years. During this time, Shannon served as the Scholarship Chair. She worked diligently to make sure 25 or more active sisters finished their required study hours and maintained appropriate grades to remain active within the chapter. Over the last year and a half, I have watched Shannon perform her duties of the position to a high degree. She remained unbiased and supportive, a trait that is extremely necessary to be successful as a Scholarship Chair. In addition, as a member of the executive board, Shannon was faced with many difficult conversations that resulted in having to make difficult decisions. She remained level-headed through each of these situations and was often a voice of reason within the room.

Shannon’s work ethic is applaudable as well. While serving in her position, she was also completing her master’s degree for Occupational Therapy. This master’s program is particularly involved and requires a great deal of Shannon’s dedication. Despite this large time commitment, she was able to equally give dedication to her position in Kappa Tau Epsilon and successfully completed both. Pursuing a master’s degree and remaining an active sister is hard. Pursuing a master’s degree, remaining an active sister, and being an integral member of the executive board is not often seen, making Shannon a shining example for her peers.

I am positive that as Shannon continues with her career as an Occupational Therapist that she will carry the work ethic she demonstrated in the last year and a half. Her positive and determined attitude will serve her and any future employer well.

Thank you,

Leah Smith

Former Employer at ABA Connections of Central Michigan, LLC Brianna Raymaker

To Whom It May Concern,

I am writing to show my support for Shannon Kellenberger. I have worked closely with Shannon for approximately 2 years as one of her supervisors. I believe she would be a great asset to your team and feel confident in showing my support and recommendation.

During her time working as a Behavior Technician, Shannon demonstrated punctuality, reliability & never lacked in professionalism. I recall Shannon being enrolled in 17 credits while maintaining her position, which is not an easy job. Though she was devoted to her job duties, she often spoke of her passion of becoming an Occupational Therapist. She has a genuine passion to help and serve others. I always admired her ability to advocate for her current self and her future self, determining how to balance her workload and follow through with her commitments.

To say that Shannon would be your company’s strong point would be an understatement. Having her on our team at ABA Connections was an honor and without a doubt, she is qualified to take on a new role in her field of study as she has shown her drive and adaptability throughout the years. I would be happy to supply any additional information about Shannon, if needed.

Sincerely,

Brianna Raymaker
